Hippies and the Revolution of a Culture Essay

â€Å"Tune In, Turn On, and Drop Out† was the adage of the nonconformist development, a critical countercultural marvel during the 1960s and mid 1970s that became somewhat out of youthful America’s developing thwarted expectation with U.S. contribution in the Vietnam War. Nonconformists were for the most part white adolescents and youthful grown-ups who shared a disdain and doubt towards customary working class esteems and authority. They dismissed political and social orthodoxies yet grasped parts of Eastern religions, especially Buddhism. Numerous hipsters additionally observed psychedelic medications, for example, pot and LSD (lysergic corrosive diethylamide), as the way to getting away from the ties of society and extending their individual awareness. The prompt antecedent to the flower children was the alleged Beat Generation of the late 1950s, including the writer Allen Ginsberg, who turned into a radical saint. Be that as it may, where the coolly learned, dark clad beats would in general stay under the radar and avoid legislative issues, the radicals were known as much for their political bluntness with respect to their long hair and beautiful hallucinogenic apparel. Their resistance to the Vietnam War got one of the most huge parts of the developing antiwar development all through the last 50% of the 1960s. To communicate their fights, and to â€Å"turn on† others, the flower children utilized workmanship, road theater and especially music. People music and hallucinogenic stone the Beatles collection Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was a prime model were both pivotal parts of radical culture. This culture arrived at its top in the late spring of 1967, when a show in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park commenced the beginning of the purported â€Å"Summer of Love.† The occasion presented the music and tasteful of the nonconformists to a more extensive crowd and propelled a large number of youngsters around the nation to go to San Francisco, some wearing blossoms in their hair, a reference to Scott McKenzie’s rendition of the John Phillips tune â€Å"San Francisco,† a pervasive hit and a sort of radical signature tune. In 1969, in excess of 500,000 individuals went to the Woodstock Music and Art Festival in Bethel, New York, an occasion tha t for some exemplified the best parts of the nonconformist development. There was a clouded side to radical culture, in any case, and it went past the terrified dissatisfaction communicated by moderates about the â€Å"immorality† of the flower child lifestyle. A Time magazine article in 1967 cited San Francisco’s general wellbeing executive as saying that the city was paying $35,000 every month for treatment for sedate maltreatment for the city’s 10,000 flower children. To Joan Didion, who expounded on her time in San Francisco for her acclaimed 1968 exposition â€Å"Slouching Towards Bethlehem,† the flower children were â€Å"missing children† who were the most definitive evidence that â€Å"the focus was not holding† in American culture. To the nonconformists, their conduct was the one genuinely legitimate response to the severe powers of commercialization, government and militarism exemplified by America during the 1960s. By the mid-1970s, the flower child development was on the disappear, however numerous parts of its way of life especially music and style had worked their way into standard society. The laden environment of the 1960s that had made the flower child counterculture did not exist anymore, especially after the Vietnam War finished, and with the approach of punk and disco music the sincere nonconformists were frequently observed as silly. In any case, their standards of harmony, love and network turned into the suffering heritage of the nonconformist development, and even today there are a couple â€Å"neo-hippies† to be found on school grounds and collectives the nation over and around the globe. The Tet Offensive The Tet Offensive was an enormous scope arrangement of fights propelled by the Vietnamese Communists (or Viet Cong) against American and South Vietnamese soldiers during the Vietnam War that brought about both a military disappointment and a mental triumph for the Communists. The multi-part crusade was known as Tet since it was planned to begin on January 31, 1968, the Vietnamese New Year occasion known as Tet. As a diversionary strategy, North Vietnamese units assaulted the Marine base at Khe Sahn quickly before Tet and around 50,000 U.S. what's more, South Vietnamese powers were associated with guarding the base and different locales close by. Thusly, the Americans and South Vietnamese were shocked by the Tet Offensive, in which more than 100 urban areas and towns and a few dozen landing strips and bases all through South Vietnam were assaulted. Nonetheless, the U.S. furthermore, its partner immediately retaliated and the Viet Cong, who endured monstrous losses, couldn't hold the vast majority of the caught domain for long. In the United States, individuals were dazed by the power and across the board idea of the assaults. Realistic pictures of the battling were appeared on American TV and just because, analysis of the war mounted on a national scale. General William Westmoreland, leader of U.S. military activities in Vietnam, mentioned more than 200,000 additional soldiers, trusting it would be workable for the U.S. to at last crash the foe in their debilitated condition. Be that as it may, President Lyndon B. Johnsons new resistance secretary, Clark Clifford, persuaded the president to dismiss Westmorelands demand and in March 1968, Johnson expressed that the United States was focused on a de-heightening of the contention. Johnson likewise reported he would not look for a second term as president. The Viet Cong and North Vietnamese propelled extra Tet crusades in May and August of that equivalent year. American battle units at last pulled back from Vietnam in 1973 and South Vietnam tumbled to North Vietnam in 1975. Vietnam War Protests Restriction to American inclusion in the Vietnam War started gradually however developed consistently during the time half of the 1960s, in the long run turning into the biggest and most remarkable enemy of war development in American history. When U.S. planes started standard bombings of North Vietnam in February 1965, liberal popular sentiment had started to scrutinize the government’s declaration that it was battling an equitable war to free the South Vietnamese individuals from Communist hostility. The counter war development at that point started vigorously, for the most part on school grounds, as individuals from the radical association Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) started arranging â€Å"teach-ins† to communicate their restriction to the manner by which it was being led. Despite the fact that by far most of the American populace despite everything upheld the organization strategy in Vietnam, a little however straightforward liberal minority was making its voice heard before the finish of 1965. This minority included numerous understudies just as noticeable craftsmen and educated people and individuals from the flower child development, a developing number of youngsters who dismissed power and grasped the medication culture. Before the finish of 1967, the Vietnam War was costing the U.S. some $25 billion every year, and disappointment was starting to arrive at more noteworthy areas of the taxpaying open. More setbacks were accounted for in Vietnam consistently, even as U.S. administrators requested more soldiers. Under the draft framework, upwards of 40,000 youngsters were called into administration every month, stoking the fire of the counter war development. Heavyweight fighter Muhammad Ali was one of the more conspicuous Americans who opposed the draft framework, announcing himself a noncombatant and procuring a jail sentence (later upset) and a three-year restriction from boxing. On October 21, 1967, one of the most noticeable enemy of war exhibits occurred, as somewhere in the range of 100,000 nonconformists accumulated at the Lincoln Memorial; 30,000 of them proceeded in a walk on the Pentagon soon thereafter. After a merciless encounter with the troopers and U.S. Marshals ensuring the structure, several demonstrators were captured. One of them was the writer Norman Mailer, who chronicled the occasions in his The Armies well known book of the Night, distributed the next year to far reaching praise. By early February 1968, a Gallup survey demonstrated just 35 percent of the populace affirmed of Johnson’s treatment of the war and 50 percent objected (the rest had no assessment). Joining the counter war shows at this point were individuals from the association Vietnam Veterans Against the War, a significant number of whom were in wheelchairs and on braces. Seeing these men on TV discarding the awards they had won during the war did a lot to prevail upon individuals to the counter war cause. After numerous New Hampshire essential voters energized behind the counter war Democrat Eugene McCarthy, Johnson declared that he would not look for re-appointment. VP Hubert Humphrey acknowledged the Democratic selection in August in Chicago, and 10,000 enemy of war demonstrators appeared outside the show building, conflicting with security powers gathered by Mayor Richard Daley. Humphrey lost the 1968 presidential political decision to Richard M. Nixon, who had guaranteed in his crusade to manage the extraordinary components of the populace in particular the radicals and the flower children more successfully than Johnson had. Nixon’s war approaches separated the country even more: In December 1969, the administration initiated the first U.S. draft lottery since World War II, prompting a huge measure of debate and making numerous youngsters escape to Canada to maintain a strategic distance from induction. Strains ran higher than at any other time, prodded on by mass exhibitions and episodes of legitimate savagery such those at Kent State in May 1970, when National Guard troops shot into a gathering of nonconformists showing against the U.S. attack of Cambodia, murdering four understudies. When the war at long last finished, after North Vietnamese soldiers caught Saigon in 1975, the sad enemy of war motto â€Å"What are we battling for?† appeared to be a prescience worked out, as veterans got back from Vietnam to locate their own country still harshly separated. The Tet Offensive through according to the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese - Research Paper Example Nonetheless, the socialist north chose to organize a hostile in what came to be viewed as the greatest assaults ever, since the Vietnamese war started. During this assault, the socialists assaulted significant towns of the South to a tune of in excess of 100 towns, including the southern capital, while additionally spreading the assaults to more than 36 commonplace capitals of the south, utilizing a unit of in excess of 80,000 soldiers (Donaldson, 161). In spite of the South Vietnamese and the USA armed force being gotten off guard, reacted to the hostile and in the end conquered the socialists, despite the fact that the entire situation took two additional months, with the most noticeably awful event being the Battle of Hue, where the entire of the city was demolished and a huge number of occupants, to a tune of 7600 executed by the socialists, in what came to be alluded as the Hue slaughter (Collins, 42). There are three fundamental viewpoints that have made the Tet Offensive stick out, in the entire scene of the Vietnamese war. To start with, the Tet hostile was propelled by the North Vietnam against South Vietnam off guard, the socialists to exact more harm on the South, on the underlying substance of the hostile. Also, the hostile stands apart as the biggest military activity that was ever led by either the north or the south in the Vietnamese war. Thirdly, it stands apart as the most exceedingly awful assault on the regular folks, since the hostile didn't just focus on the Southern Vietnamese and the USA armed forces, yet in addition stretched out its assaults to the non military personnel order and control focuses all through South Vietnam, coming full circle with the awful Hue slaughter that left more than 7000 regular people dead (Anderson, 183). Such an enormous assault activity couldn't have recently gone ahead board, without productive and viable arranging and execution of the assaults. The Tet Offensive happened when the weight was mounting on the USA military and government to think about dropping its association in the Vietnamese war, taking into account that near 45% of the Americans accepted that the war was not worth being sought after, fundamentally because of the misfortunes it had caused on the USA, as far as the quantity of the setbacks of its warriors, the augmentation in tax assessment to the residents, and the absence of a smallest sign that the war was reaching a conclusion (Robbins, 12). With such displeasing inside the general population, and even a few segments of the legislature and insight, the military order expected to act conclusively in carrying the entire issue to a stop. The USA military order accordingly responded by mounting the achievement hostile in 1967, where it tried to affirm to the open that the USA would win the war, and carries it to a quick end. This was accomplished through media promulgation where the military officers deceived the American open on the abilities of the Northern Vietnamese Army and the Viet Cong, by declaring that they were losing ground and thusly were not in a situation to dispatch any significant assault. To control everything, and give more certainty to the individuals, the US armed force General approached the socialists to take a stab at something, in light of the fact that the USA was really searching for a battle (Donaldson, 155). Subsequently, the counter war feelings by the American open, coupled by the underestimation of the socialists capacity

Word of the Week! Cornucopia Richmond Writing

Word of the Week! Cornucopia Richmond Writing I dont hear this wonderful word much anymore, so I thought to trot it out for the week after Thanksgiving, when we enjoy a feast of plenty. What of the word that means horn of plenty? It may appear in seasonal imagery, but like last weeks word, it has faded from popular usage. The OED Online gives it only four of eight for frequency of usage. As with so many words here, the history of use can only be traced to the early Gutenberg years, or 16th Century. I imagine our term enjoyed popularity before, as the concept comes from pagan Antiquity, noted in the OED entry as the horn of the goat Amalthea by which the infant Zeus was suckled. We might see the image of a horn of plenty advertising specials for Thanksgiving at supermarkets, but the lovely Latinate term? That seems rare today. Enjoy your holiday feasts and do not overdo it. There are ancient stories about that, as well. Please nominate a word or metaphor useful in academic writing by e-mailing me (jessid -at- richmond -dot- edu) or leaving a comment below. The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde - 1326 Words

British Modernism, which dates from 1890-1945, is one of the strongest and revolutionary movements of all time, affecting great change in art, music, and literature. Approaching the end of the Victorian Era, an overlap with early Modernism arises, as writers began resisting this sense of order and questioning accepted roles and beliefs. Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was published during the late Victorian era, but he clearly brings into question the acceptance of Victorian philosophies, especially the belief that one truth exists and that we can identify good and evil as separate entities. The names Jekyll and Hyde have become synonymous with multiple personality disorder. This novel can be†¦show more content†¦Roving beyond its place above the water is the ego, the conscious, rational division of the mind. Beneath the waters of consciousness, the hidden expanse of the iceberg divides into the superego and id. The superego , or â€Å"the moral part of us† lays the grid work for and reinforces rules. Farthest from the shore of consciousness, the id embodies the individual’s desires: the most primal part of the mind developed during the prenatal months. Dr. Jekyll is the conscious ego attempting to maintain balance between his id, or Hyde, and his superego, or the Victorian morality of his society. Jekyll, the ego, undergoes a tragedy of imbalance wherein the morals, imposed by a Victorian superego, overwhelm the psyche. Struggling under the impossible standards placed on humanity, he enlists the help of science to physically extract the repressed human needs, or id, from his tormented mind whose physical form is that of Hyde. Exemplifying Hyde as the consequence of society restraint, Robert Louis Stevenson attempts to expose the devastation and hypocrisy Victorian society creates in the gentleman. In the passage where Jekyll notes that Hyde was â€Å"knit† to him â€Å"closer than a wife, closer than an eye† (Stevenson). The use of the term â€Å"eye† is a pun for the word â€Å"I†. In the Words of Frank Lloyd Wright

American architect  Frank Lloyd Wright was known for his Prairie Style house designs, his tempestuous person life, and his prolific writings, including speeches and magazine articles. His long life (91 years) gave him time to fill volumes. Here are some of Frank Lloyd Wrights most notable quotations—and our favorites: On Simplicity In contrast to his tumultuous personal life, Wright spent his architectural life expressing beauty through simple, natural forms and designs. How does an architect create beautiful yet functional forms? Five lines where three are enough is always stupidity. Nine pounds where three are sufficient is obesity....To know what to leave out and what to put in, just where and just how, ah, that is to have been educated in knowledge of simplicity—toward ultimate freedom of expression. The Natural House, 1954 Form and function are one. In the Cause of Architecture I   (1908) Organic Architecture Before there was Earth Day and LEED certification, Wright promoted an ecology and naturalness in architectural design. The home should not be on a plot of land but be of the land—an organic part of the environment. Much of Wrights writings describes the philosophy of organic architecture: ...it is in the nature of any organic building to grow from its site, come out of the ground into the light—the ground itself held always as a component basic part of the building itself. The Natural House (1954) A building should appear to grow easily from its site and be shaped to harmonize with its surroundings if nature is manifest there, and if not try to make it as quiet, substantial, and organic as she would have been were the opportunity hers. His youth on the prairie lands of Wisconsin, especially the times he spent on his uncles farm, shaped the way this future architect incorporated natural elements into his designs: Nature is the great teacher—man can only receive and respond to her teaching. The Natural House, 1954 The land is the simplest form of architecture. Some Aspects of the Past and Present in Architecture (1937), The Future of Architecture, 1953 The prairie has a beauty of its own.... In the Cause of Architecture I   (1908) Primarily, nature furnished the materials for architectural motifs...her wealth of suggestion is inexhaustible; her riches greater than any mans desire. In the Cause of Architecture I   (1908) ...go to the woods and fields for color schemes. In the Cause of Architecture I   (1908) I have never been fond of paints or of wallpaper or anything which must be applied to other things as a surface....Wood is wood, concrete is concrete, stone is stone. The Natural House (1954) The Nature of Man Frank Lloyd Wright had a way of seeing the world as one whole, not differentiating between the living, breathing home or of the human being. Human houses should not be like boxes, he lectured in 1930. Wright continued: Any house is a far too complicated , clumsy, fussy, mechanical counterfeit of the human body. Electric wiring for nervous system, plumbing for bowels, heating system and fireplaces for arteries and heart, and windows for eyes, nose, and lungs generally. The Cardboard House, the Princeton Lectures, 1930, The Future of Architecture What a man does—that he has. The Natural House, 1954 A house that has character stands a good chance of growing more valuable as it grows older...Buildings like people must first be sincere, must be true.... In the Cause of Architecture I   (1908) Plaster houses were then new. Casement windows were new....Nearly everything was new but the law of gravity and the idiosyncrasy of the client. The Natural House, 1954 On Style Although realtors and developers have embraced the Prairie style home, Wright designed each home for the land it was on and the people who would occupy it. He said: There should be as many kinds (styles) of houses as there are kinds (styles) of people and as many differentiations as there are different individuals. A man who has individuality (and what man lacks it?) has a right to its expression in his own environment. In the Cause of Architecture I   (1908) Style is a byproduct of the process....To adopt a style as a motive is to put the cart before the horse.... In the Cause of Architecture II   (1914) On Architecture As an architect, Frank Lloyd Wright never wavered in his beliefs about architecture and the use of space inside and out. Homes as different as Fallingwater and Taliesin have the same natural, organic elements he learned about as a boy in Wisconsin. ...every house...should begin on the ground, not in it.... The Natural House (1954) Form follows function is mere dogma until you realize the higher truth that form and function are one. The Natural House (1954) The house of moderate cost is not only Americas major architectural problem but the problem most difficult for her major architects. The Natural House (1954) Had steel, concrete, and glass existed in the ancient order we could have had nothing like our ponderous, senseless classic architecture. The Natural House, 1954 ...architecture is life; or at least it is life itself taking form and therefore it is the truest record of life as it was lived in the world yesterday, as it is lived today or ever will be lived. So architecture I know to be a Great Spirit. The Future: Valedictory (1939) What is needed most in architecture today is the very thing that is most needed in life—integrity. The Natural House (1954) ...architectural values are human values, or they are not valuable....Human values are life giving, not life taking. The Disappearing City (1932) Advice To The Young Architect From the Chicago Art Institute Lecture (1931), The Future of Architecture The influences of the old master, architect Louis Sullivan, stayed with Wright all of his life, even as Wright was more famous and became the master himself. Think simples, as my old master used to say—meaning to reduce the whole to its parts in simplest terms, getting back to first principles. Take time to prepare....Then go as far away as possible from home to build your first buildings. The physician can bury his mistakes, but the architect can only advise his clients to plant vines. ...form the habit of thinking why....get the habit of analysis.... Regard it as just as desirable to build a chicken house as to build a cathedral. The size of the project means little in art, beyond the money matter. So, architecture speaks as poetry to the soul. In this machine age to utter this poetry that is architecture, as in all other ages, you must learn the organic language of the natural which is ever the language of the new. Every great architect is—necessarily—a great poet. He must be a great original interpreter of his time, his day, his age. An Organic Architecture, The London Lectures (1939), The Future of Architecture Quotations Popularly Attributed to Frank Lloyd Wright Frank Lloyd Wright quotes are as abundant as the number of buildings he completed. Many quotations have been repeated so many time, its difficult to accurately source when they were said, or, even, if they are accurate quotes from Wright himself. Here are some that often appear in collections of quotations: I hate intellectuals. They are from the top down. I am from the bottom up. TV is chewing gum for the eyes. Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose honest arrogance and have seen no occasion to change. The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen. The truth is more important than the facts. Youth is a quality, not a matter of circumstances. An idea is salvation by imagination. Get the habit of analysis—analysis will in time enable synthesis to become your habit of mind. I feel coming on a strange disease—humility. If it keeps up, man will atrophy all his limbs but the push-button finger. The scientist has marched in and taken the place of the poet. But one day somebody will find the solution to the problems of the world and remember, it will be a poet, not a scientist. No stream rises higher than its source. What ever man might build could never express or reflect more than he was. He could record neither more nor less than he had learned of life when the buildings were built. The longer I live the more beautiful life becomes. If you foolishly ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it. Your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty, it will remain with you all the days of your life. The present is the ever moving shadow that divides yesterday from tomorrow. In that lies hope. I find it hard to believe that the machine would go into the creative artists hand even were that magic hand in true place. It has been too far exploited by industrialism and science at expense to art and true religion. The screech and mechanical uproar of the big city turns the citified head, fills citified ears—as the song of birds, wind in the trees, animal cries, or as the voices and songs of his loved ones once filled his heart. He is sidewalk-happy. Note: Frank Lloyd Wright ® and Taliesin ® are registered trademarks of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.

America s Position Of Dominance Sustainable - 1154 Words

The Sole Global Power Is America s exalted position of dominance sustainable? In 1865, when the Civil War ended with the victory in the North, the ball began rolling in America with the help of Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis. The industrial boom occurred, generating the United States into being the most dominant nation in the world. The likelihood of America losing its world dominance is very minimal for several reasons. The United States will continue to be a massively powerful, secure, and diverse country well into the next century. From 1945 to the collapse of the Soviet Union there were between 40 and 50 significant instances of the use of U.S. armed forces abroad. From 1991 to the present, that number nearly tripled to between 100 and 135. The U.S. military dominates across land, sea, air, and space. When having Contractions during labor there are signs which can cause severe distress, which many of us would choose to avoid if possible. Additionally, though the soreness after a Cesarean is far worse than the aching and soreness following a vaginal delivery because the incision has to heal and you’ll be sore. There may be certain times that a different birthing method may help prevent complications due to medical reasons like a baby that is in a breech position or when a mother and a baby are having complications such as hypertension, diabetes, STD’s, herpes, and HIV. Many cesarean sections are unnecessary hospital charges are much and how sections are unnecessary and how costly for cesarean than vaginal birth. Women who have cesarean need to stay in the hospital for more days to make sure the mothers are healing correctly and to be able to get to their normal route and also a cesarean can take longer to feel back to themselves. There are increased risks of breathing problems for the baby that have bee n shown through the process of labor and vaginal deliveries and that it helps babies’ lungs evelop so that as soon as they are born, they can breathe on their own. Without going through labor, babies after planned C- sections are more likely to suffer from respiratory distress syndrome or other breathing complications. Premature babies are also more likely to have breathing problems due to incompletely developed lungs. One way to reduce the chances of this is to be sure to schedule the C-section for no earlier than 39 weeks of pregnancy. There are always certain risks in some pregnancies. If a woman plans to have more than one child, it is mportant to know that having a C-section for the first baby most likely guarantees that the rest of the children will be delivered by C-section. After each operation, the body forms scar tissue or adhesions during the healing process. This makes each subsequent surgery that much more difficult and more risky. Therefore, C-sections by choice are not the ideal solution for every woman. J(John) T(Tom) T: Hello Mr. Jonh, these days I have read some books on the the trends of logistics in the future. But I found that articles about the field is not as enough as I expected. I think the problem has an important significance for the future development of logistics. So I would like to ask your opinion about this aspect. J:Research in this area is also interested to me, and I also did a lot of related research. It provides guidance for developing effective, efficient logistics. T:So what kind of development trend do you think the future logistics will have? J: In fact, I think we should have four aspects. The first is Green Logistics. It grow out the growing awareness of environmental problems, and in particular with well-publicized issues such as acid rain ,CFCs and global warming. The transportation industry is a major contributor to environmental degradation. T:So what is the exact definition of green logistics? J: The so-called green logistics, is to reduce the pollution of the environment, reduce the consumption of resources as the goal, the use of advanced logistics technology planning and implementation of transport, storage, handling, distribution processing, distribution, packaging and logistics activities. T:What will Green Logistics bring us ? J:The implementation of green logistics development strategy, vigorously strengthen the establishment and perfection of theoretical system and policy of green logistics, improvement and adjustment of the objectives of the logistics system, logistics facilities and logistics activities of the organization, to achieve the overall optimization of the logistics system and the environment of the low damage, not only conducive to environmental protection and sustainable development of economy, and helpful to improve the management level of logistics in Chinas overall, significance for Chinas economic development major. T:oh,I Know. What else except Green logistics? J: The second is Third Party Logistics. It is a business model of logistics service provided by the third party except both the supplier of logistics service and the demander. TPL is also referred to as outsourcing or contractual logistics. And outsourcing is the operation that the manufacturers or sales focus on their core competition and make a contract with TPL to get logistics service partly or entirely. T:What is the third party logistics development trend in the future? J:Entered in twenty-first Century, with the rapid development of modern logistics industry as an emerging industry, the domestic logistics companies such as bamboo shoots after a spring rain is like the emerge in large numbers, and the formation of the third party logistics industry. Compared with traditional logistics, third party logistics more professional, comprehensive and lower cost, higher efficiency of distribution, has become the trend of international logistics, socialization and the development of modern logistics in the direction of. T:what is the superiority of the development of the third party logistics ? J: The background of competition intensifies day by day and the social division of labor is increasingly refined, logistics outsourcing has obvious advantages, specific performance in: 1. Enterprises focus on their core business. Because any enterprises resources are limited, it is difficult to become the expert service above all to. Therefore, enterprises should be the main resources of their focus on their good at business, the logistics function to logistics company. 2. Flexibility in the use of new technologies, in order to realize the information for inventory, reduce costs 3. The decline in fixed asset investment, accelerate capital turnover. The enterprise need to invest a lot of funds for the purchase of logistics equipment, warehouse and information network construction of specialized logistics equipment. These resources for lack of funds of enterprises especially the small and medium-sized enterprise is a heavy burden. And if the use of third party logistics companies not only reduce facility investment, but also the liberation of the warehouse and the teams occupation of funds, accelerate the capital turnover. 4. Provide flexible customer service, for customers to create more value. T: Will the development of the third party logistics bring disadvantage? J: Of course, compared with the self-run logistics, third party logistics provides the convenience for the enterprises at the same time, also bring a lot of adverse to the enterprise. Mainly has: the enterprise can not control the logistics function directly; can not guarantee the delivery of accurate and timely; can not guarantee the quality of customer service and maintain long-term relationships with customers; enterprises will give up on the logistics professional and technical development. For example, enterprises in the use of third party logistics, third party logistics company employees frequent exchanges, and your customers at this time, the overall image of third party logistics companies will be through the spraying its own mark on the conveyance or let employees wear uniform dress and other ways to promote the third party logistics company in the customer heart to replace your position. T: Oh,I see. After your introduction I already know a lot about the third party logistics knowledge. J: In addition to the above two points, logistics has a very important trend is the reverse logistics T: Reverse logistics? J: Reverse logistics is the management of all the activities involved in goods, demand information, and money flowing in the opposite direction of the primary logistics flow. It involves reducing the generation of waste ,as well as managing the collection, transpot, disposal, and recying of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste in a way that minimizes the long-term profitability. T: I do not understand very well. J: In other words, Reverse logistics from in the hands of customers products and packaging products, components, materials and other materials flow. In short, the reverse logistics is from the hands of customers recycle used, outdated or damaged products and packaging process began, until the final processing. But now more and more generally accepted view is, the reverse logistics is in the entire product life cycle of products and supplies complete, effective and efficient use of the coordination process. T: So that is what it is. J: But the reverse logistics at this stage has many significant disadvantages. 1. A high degree of uncertainty: Reverse logistics location, time and recovery quality and quantity is difficult to predict, which leads to the reverse logistics supply uncertainties, coupled with the recovery or reuse of product market uncertainty, the recovery of the product demand is even more difficult to predict, the balance of supply and demand difficult to master. On the contrary, the logistics of supply can be controlled according to the requirement of system. Raw materials at the appropriate time and place according to the quantity and quality of input certain production is the basic requirement, so the logistics demand for the product is almost completely composed of demand side, supply and demand to achieve balance. 2. The complexity of the operation: Reverse logistics in the recovery process and mode according to the product life cycle, product characteristics, the required resources, equipment and other conditions are different and complicated, so the ratio of new product in the forward logistics process is more uncertainty and complexity. According to the Rogers in 2001 to a survey by Usa Inc, main activities and function of reverse logistics include: remanufacturing, dressing, recycling, landfill, and packaging and processing etc.. Carter points out, is at least four environmental factors affecting the implementation of reverse logistics of a company, as consumers, suppliers, competitors and government institutions, so its difficult for the company to make strategic decisions regarding recovery mode to the efficient and economic operation of reverse logistics system. T: It seems the reverse logistics in the future still need further improvement and optimization.
